ANINA (עֲנִינָא).  In Kolatch's Complete Dictionary of English and Hebrew First Names (1984), this is an Aramaic name, meaning "answer my prayer."  It has the variant Anena.

ANINA.  Pet form of Latin Anna (q.v.), meaning either "year," or "compassion, grace; prayers."  See Anna and Ana. (What Is Your Name?, Moody, 1863).  Usage: Denmark, Germany, Spain.
